Professor Seo was born in Korea and came to America in the early 1950s as a student.
He has been with the University of Hawaii ant Manoa since receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cincinnati in 1960. He is an expert on Asian management practices and specializes in the areas of financial economics. He has been a guest lecturer of many universities including Beijing, Columbia, Indonesia and Korea Universities, as well as several universities in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Vietnam, Japan and various other locations. For the last twelve years, he has conducted an internationally known UH-Asian business field study for MBA and faculty. He has researched over 300 Asian corporations and interviewed countless business executives.
He is the author of several books and many articles and monographs in Asian business and business/economic fields.
In 1992, Professor Seo was invited to POSCO to speak at a short seminar and then to conduct a feasibility study of investment opportunities in Southeast Asian countries. Impressed with POSCO management and performance and feeling business executives everywhere could profit from the lessons of this upstart Korean steel company, Professor Seo undertook the preparation of this book about POSCO's management, strategies and secrets to success.
