Over two days at POSTECH the camp runs a series of programmes meant to help young people set a vision and a dream of their own, alongside the discussion of Korea’s future.
Programme 1 · Breaking the ice
Two days is a short time, but this is where undergraduates and graduate students from across the country introduce themselves and come to understand one another — the hours in which “you and I” become “we”.
Programme 2 · A special lecture by an invited speaker
In keeping with the camp’s name, the lecture takes up a subject that helps young people think hard about setting the right goals and vision for their lives. It runs as a talk concert: hearing from someone who has made their way, participants get a chance to think about their own dreams and vision, and to put their own questions and get advice.
Programme 3 · Essay presentations
Participants present the essays they entered in the Institute’s national contest, and discuss them. This is the highlight of the camp — a debate in which young voices move freely, and in which they light a lamp for the country’s future.
Programme 4 · A visit to POSTECH and POSCO
As the camp is held at POSTECH, students from elsewhere are shown around Korea’s leading research university, with a campus tour and visits to the POSCO museum and the steelworks — a chance to learn the spirit of the founder Park Tae-joon, a future strategist of rare gifts with a strong sense of national calling and outstanding leadership.
Programme 5 · Leadership training
Over the short span of the camp, teams and individuals compete through a range of activities. Participants form close relationships, build a sense of unity in their teams, and feel the synergy that comes of working together. The training is meant to bring home the importance of commitment and service, and — through experience — the importance of the team over the individual.
Programme 6 · The award ceremony
The grand prize and the excellence prizes of the Institute’s contest are presented. Individual and team awards also go to those who did outstanding work over the two days of the camp.
